Since last week's blog, where I talked about setting the correct time and location in VERA, I've been asked by a few people to illustrate how to use this.
So we went away and put together an example showing how to create a Dusk to Dawn controlled light.
The idea is that the light is controlled automatically by schedules in VERA. The light turns On at Sunset and then Off at Sunrise. This is the sort of control you want for an outside light or a child's night-light.
Using VERA's schedules means that each day it calculates the correct sunrise and sunset times, automatically taking into account the time of year. These times change slightly each day as the days get longer or shorter; using VERA you don't need to manually change the times!
To fully illustrate this, we've created an application note and video. Both are available at Application Note 15 - Using VERA as a Dusk to Dawn Controller.
This example is the first in a series of examples showing how to use VERA to control various common tasks. These will include motion controlled lights using Z-Wave Association, motion controlled lights plus schedule timer and more.
These are our ideas.
So if you have an idea for an example, or just need help figuring out how to do something - add a comment to this blog, I would love to get your feedback.
See you soon.
Mark.
