Why is the Aeon 6-in-1 so good?
Aeon have packed a lot into this device. The MultiSensor now has six sensors, but at the same time Aeon have reduced its size by 70% compared to the previous MultiSensor. They have halved the number of batteries, but managed to extend the battery life by 4x, range has also been increased by 50% (up to 150m) and it is fully Z-Wave Plus (Gen5) certified.
Motion Sensor
The MultiSensor 6 monitors motion up to 5m away with 120° field of view. That will cover pretty much any movement or activity in your home.
Temperature Sensor
The new temperature sensor can be calibrated to the room (as can the humidity and UV sensors). This means you can 'tune' the MultiSensor into its surrounds so it gives you the most accurate measurements from -10 to +50°C. Use it for simple temperature readings or within the Z-Wave system to control heating or AC.
Humidity Sensor
With the humidity sensor, you can now keep a tab on the humidity levels and automatically configure your fans, air-conditioners or windows to maintain the perfect environment
Light Sensor
MultiSensor 6's digital light sensor allows you to accurately detect the ambient lighting (0 lux to 30000 lux). The MultiSensor can intelligently control your lights and curtains/blinds based on the light level.
Vibration Sensor
New to the MultiSensor 6, the vibration sensor detects subtle seismic activity or if the MultiSensor is moved - a great feature for security.
UV Sensor
Not an obvious one this, but the UV sensor can be used to control blinds and curtains to reduce the sun's glare or its heating affect.
First Impressions
We've not had chance to play with this new device yet, the first batch only arrived with us yesterday evening. First impressions are that Aeon have done a lot of work on this, they have packed a lot of functions into an absolutely tiny device. And, as its Z-Wave Plus you get all the advantages of increased range, extended battery life and Over The Air upgrading (OTA).
